Is it safe to get a tattoo?

Yes

Does it hurt?

Yes it hurts. But, there are lots of people walking around with tattoos and piercings so it’s not unbearable. There are many sensations used to describe it depending on each person and what area is being worked on. Some people even like it!

How much will it cost?

It all depends on the size of the piece and the detail involved and also which artist you choose, we all work at different speeds and charge accordingly. The shop minimum charge is $100. Some pieces cannot be completed in one sitting. You will be given a quote once you meet with the artist and go over the details of what you want. Remember though, if another studio is willing do your tattoo on the cheap BEWARE! You get what you pay for and this is going to be on your body forever. If you do go for the cheap route, see question on FIXING A BAD TATTOO!

How long before I can get a tan and what kind of aftercare should I do?

Aftercare guidelines for tattoos are given to every client. It reads as follows:

TATTOO AFTER CARE:  Leave the bandage on for at least 2 hours(NEVER RE-BANDAGE).  After removing your bandage clean your tattoo with your hand using a non-scented soap(SUDSY).  Wash until skin is free of blood and no longer slimy.  Pat dry then apply AQUAPHOR ointment sparingly.  Rub it in good! Make sure your skin can breathe through the ointment. Continue the aquaphore for 4-5 days then switch to non-scented non-oil lotion). DONTS: For the 1st week NEVER SUBMERGE UNDER WATER & NO CHLORINE OR RIVER!! Your tattoo will itch when peeling and you will NOT scratch or pick at it; as it may effect healing time and the tattoo.  You may slap or apply lotion when the skin is itching and it will subside. ABSOLUTELY NO DIRECT SUNLIGHT ON TATTOO FOR 1ST MONTH!! The sun kills tattoos and especially color, you want it bright?.. Keep it out of the sun! Signs and symptoms of minor infection include: redness, swelling, and slight pain.  Major symptoms include: drainage of pus, elevated body temp., and red streaks going from the tattoo towards the heart; in such a case you should call your doctor and seek medical medical help ASAP.
